Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 May 2026. Written in plain English, because legal jargon is a red flag.
Short version: RuneComp stores your in-game progress and the choices you make in the app. Authentication is handled by Clerk, which means your email address and Discord username (if you sign in with Discord) are accessible to us as the site operator via the Clerk dashboard — the same way any SaaS admin can see their users. We don't use this information for anything beyond account management. If you're not comfortable with this, we recommend signing up with an email address you don't mind sharing.
What we do NOT collect or store
- •Your password. If you signed up with email and password, the password lives with Clerk. We don't store it, hash it, or have any way to retrieve it.
- •Your IP address, location, or browser fingerprint. We don't run analytics on individual users. Our hosting provider (Vercel) sees standard request metadata for the few seconds it takes to serve a page, but we don't store or query it.
- •Payment information. All Patreon subscriptions are processed by Patreon. RuneComp never sees your card number, billing address, or charge history. If you connect Patreon, we store your Patreon user ID and an OAuth token (so we can check your tier on each request) — nothing else.
- •Anything from outside the app. We don't read your other tabs, your browser history, or your RuneScape chat. We only have access to data the RuneScape RuneMetrics API exposes for accounts you choose to link.
What we DO store
Everything below is tied only to your opaque Clerk user ID. It's used to render your dashboard, build your route, and remember your check-marks across devices.
- •Your email address and Discord username (via Clerk). Clerk, our authentication provider, surfaces these to us as the site operator — this is standard for any Clerk-powered app. We use them only for account management (e.g. support requests, account recovery). We do not sell, share, or use them for marketing. If you're not comfortable with this, we recommend signing up with an email address you don't mind sharing, or one created specifically for this purpose.
- •Your chosen profile name and linked RuneScape username (e.g. "Zezima"). Used to fetch your public RuneMetrics data.
- •Synced game data: skill XP and levels, completed quests, achievement points / RuneScore, quest points, game mode (regular/ironman/hardcore). Pulled from the public RuneMetrics API only when you sync.
- •Things you choose to track in the app: Priority Planner items, daily check-marks, activity trackers (e.g. Reaper points progress), selected training methods, manual data toggles (e.g. area task sets completed).
- •Your ratings: if you rate a training method or achievement, your rating is stored alongside an aggregated community average. Other users only see the average — never your individual rating.
- •Patreon connection (optional): if you link Patreon, we store your Patreon user ID, current tier, and OAuth tokens so we can verify your subscription status. Nothing else.
Third-party services
RuneComp is a small operation and relies on a few well-known infrastructure providers. They each have their own privacy policies covering the data they handle on our behalf.
- Clerk — handles all authentication (sign-up, sign-in, Discord OAuth, sessions). Holds your email and login method. Clerk privacy policy.
- Supabase — hosts our database. Stores the data listed above, accessible only via server-side requests from RuneComp. Supabase privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosts the web app itself. Sees standard request logs (URLs visited, response codes) for site operation. Vercel privacy policy.
- Patreon (if you link your account) — handles billing and tier checks. Patreon privacy policy.
- Jagex (RuneScape) — when you sync, we read the public RuneMetrics endpoints for your account. We don't send anything back to Jagex.
Cookies
We use a single category of cookie: session cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics.
Deleting your data
Go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete my account permanently. One typed confirmation removes every row tied to your Clerk ID — every profile, all synced game data, planner items, daily check-marks, your ratings, and your sign-in record itself. The deletion is permanent and we keep no backups of deleted accounts.
If you can't access the Settings page for any reason, reach us in our Discord and we'll process the deletion manually.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect — for example, adding a new tracking feature — we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant we'll also flag it in-app the next time you sign in.
